Miguel works with collaborators on youth participation and public school governance. These reports document two of those collaborations.

Youth voice and participation

Nothing About Us Without Us examines youth voice, power and participation in East Side Union High School District. The case study looks at the district’s partnership with Californians for Justice and what supports student participation.

School boards and democratic governance

Local Control in a Time of Change examines the work of California school board members, their challenges and the support they need. Miguel is a coauthor of the May 2026 report published by Getting Down to Facts.
